Autumn update – field-grown trees and hedging season
It’s a busy month here at Rainbow Plants with the start of the field-grown trees and hedging season. Many orders are being taken in the office for autumn planting.
We’re also looking ahead to our next delivery of plants from the nurseries of Pistoia in Italy. When we visited these nurseries in the summer we reserved some field grown plants (Acers and multi-stem Birch trees) that need to be losing their leaves before they can be lifted and transported to the UK.
During our visit at the end of July we had a very hot few days in Tuscany (we know, someone had to do it!). We visited the nurseries of Pistoia whilst being looked after (very well) by the principal business we deal with in the region, Zelari Piante.
Some photos are included in this blog. At the time, we chose and tagged the plants we wanted. The first tranche of plants then arrived in September and were shown to our clients in a dedicated tunnel. Since the first delivery quite a few were sold to businesses creating showhomes for new housing sites.
We look forward to updating your again soon. In the meantime, please explore our latest Looking Good Plant List
